Incredible depth and complexity in this Mencia. Needs air. Floral, stoney, and dark, ripe fruit on the nose. Black cherries and crushed raspberries are met with soft earth and a Beaujolais-esque granitic quality. Concentration and structure but with a restrained elegance. Beautiful wine.

Jul 5th, 2019Year after year, this is my favorite Raul Perez wine. He typically macerates this wine longer than his other Mencias, so the tannins are deeper and the flavors more concentrated. Although not as elegant and finessed as some of his others, this is a beautiful wine. Nose of ripe blackberries and dark fruit while the palate adds notes of chestnut and dark stone. Long finish. 2016 vintage on May 15, 2019
