Served with Fisherman’s Pasta - sablefish, mussels, saffron gnocchetti pasta, fennel, fresh baguette toast. If there is one thing constant about every Lopez de Heredia Blanco that I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying, it’s that they are never boring. The 2006 delivers on that with notes of dates, dried apricot, German candied nuts, marshmallows, cumin, dill and toasted coconut. Dry with fantastic acid and the texture is waxy. One of my favorite white wines on earth. Will probably live for another 20 years easy.

Sipping Fine Wine

Had another bottle 6 months ago, just gets better and better. Deep Ruby with an elegant bouquet of berry fruits, light spice with fresh earthy tones, a traditional Rioja. On the palate, the wine was silky smooth with layers of flavors, berry and cherry, tobacco, smoky cedar, dark fruit, vanilla spice, very well balanced with fine tannins and a clean structure ending with a nice lingering finish. Delicious! Can age well into next decade.

Kick off wine at Old Rioja Wine Dinner, gorgeous nose with white flowers and even honey, the palette is completely different: very dry, acidic, with hints of brioche and almonds. A real mind-bender which keeps you from putting your glass down as it keeps messing with your head. Cheers.

Full body, rich yet elegant structure and gripping tannins. On the palate, there's red berries, tobacco, licorice and dried fruit with vanilla on the finish to create a well-balanced wine.

This vintage needs air.......without it’ll rip your face off. There’s a lot of citrus aromatics & spice

More acidity on first taste than I was expecting but that is probably down to the beautifully fresh cherry notes. The taste then evolves on the palate, bringing out the American oak barrels in the form of a long aftertaste, smoky leather mixed with a zing of citrus.
