After a strong pour into the decanter, I found a nice wine with a lot of pepper and spice. I love those flavors, but kind of one note. Smoothed out quite a bit after a couple of additional decants. My girl liked it significantly more; I thought it lost a bit of character.

No doubt about its excellence. Old-school aromas, from long-aging in old wood and bottle. Not as ethereal as the best Brunellos and more earthly, but just as fine.
