Time for my Friday's Cabernet fix.
Deep purple in color with a purplish rim.
Sweet nose of cherries, blackberries, blueberries, spices, wood, vanilla, cloves, tobacco, coffee, chocolates, vegetables, green herbs, mint, tobacco leaf, earth and peppercorn.
Full bodied, bold and smooth, with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black plums, cherries, wood, licorice, spices, dark chocolates, vanilla, earth, coffee, cola, tobacco and peppercorn.
Long finish with firm tannins and tangy cherries.
What a wonderful Cabernet from Napa this is. Well balanced and complex with a great mouthfeel. A little spicy, ripe and very fruity, with lots of chocolate notes.
Good by itself or with foods, like a big piece of steak.
Another great wine from the house of the Wagner family. This Napa Cabernet is delicious.
Aged for 20 months in French Oak barrels (70% new).
15.1% alcohol by volume.

Napa nose of vanilla, licorice, cloves, earth, blueberries, blackberries, cherries, oak, pencil lead, vinegar, leather, dirt and black pepper.
Medium bodied with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, bell pepper, oak, vanilla, licorice, green pepper, earth, spices, peppercorn, leather, smoke, chocolates, mocha and vegetables.
Long finish with soft tannins and black pepper.
This is a great Napa Cabernet from the house of the Wagner family (Caymus).
Well balanced, complex and interesting, but still young with too many vegetable notes for my taste. Great mouthfeel, and although high in alcohol, it is not noticeable. Will be better in a couple of years.
Good by itself or with food, like BBQ Meats, and needs 2 hours to open up properly.

Like a high end Apothic Red. Off-dry, loads of oak and tons of alcohol. Tastes like a science experiment coming out of laboratory. Understand why people love it, but just way too over the top. Classic Wagner Family wine.

Over-oaked. I have experienced this with prior vintages of Quilt, so if you enjoy new wood dominant fruit forward Napa cabs, then this will be up your alley. Ripe and juicy. Nice medium plus body with high alc. A big wine. Screw cap closure so drink up sooner rather than later.

Cheaper than Caymus, that’s a positive, I guess. Odd wood closet finish. Cola flavors.

Quilt pays tribute to Napa’s wines, sourced from a patchwork of prime Napa Valley vineyards. Met Joseph Wagner a few times & tasted his wines. Tried ‘14 ‘15 & ‘16. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruits, sweet spice and cedar. On palate flavors of blackberry and cherry with vanilla, oak and leather notes, well balanced. Fine soft tannins, nice mouthfeel, on long finish ending with cacao, oak and tobacco character. Consistent quality, has room to age. Nice!
