Purlieu
Teucer Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Part 1 of the final and main event for the Fall WNH. The most spectacular lineup of wines I’ve ever seen, and an overall wonderful ending to an amazing trip with fantastic people.
Undoubtedly Coombsville. Crunchy/underripe blackberries, cassis, licorice, herbal spice on the nose with a streak of black cherry on the mid palate. Dark. Finish has some liqueur like notes that are fresh squeezed fruit dominant. I enjoy Julien’s wines and was glad to finally try this label. Thanks for opening @Shawn R .

The nose reveals ripe, dark currants. Blackberries, black raspberries, boysenberries, black plum, plum and baked strawberries. Nice soft dark, spice, steeped black fruit tea, limestone, anise, light eucalyptus/mint, slight dark fruit liqueur notes, vanilla, cinnamon, clove with blue/purple flowers.
The body is full. The tannins are big but, soft, rounded, tarry and sticky. All three vintages drink easily young, yet will cellar 10-15 plus years. Ripe, dark currants. Blackberries, black raspberries, boysenberries, black plum, plum and baked strawberries. Nice soft dark, spice, steeped black fruit tea, limestone, anise, light eucalyptus/mint, slight dark fruit liqueur notes, vanilla, cinnamon, clove, dry top soil, dry crushed rocks, soft leather notes, saddle-wood limestone minerals, with blue/purple flowers. The acidity is round and nicely executed. The finish is big, well balanced, lush, elegant and last minutes.

@Antonio Galloni please revisit this wine. While not as complex as the To Kalon is still a fantastic showing. Dark chocolate and crushed berries. Shows purpose and elegance all the same. Excellent example of what is to come. Thank you @Paul Treadway Huntington Beacher for sending me this bottle.

Feb 28th, 2015My last of the 14’s,
Very good on P&P just like the others, but best to try 1 glass & re cork then decant and drink on the 2nd day for all 3.

JL Purlieu tasting 6/16/17. ABV 15.6%. Coombsville. $136. #3. First single vineyard. Clone 7. Concanon clone. Nose now noticeably velvety and minty spicy notes. Very firm and full body with prominent oak and bite on palate and long somewhat hot finish that lingers into cooler minty notes. Indeed very Californian. Still rather restrained and need time.
