Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon
Perfect storage. Youthful and at its peak. Lovely. I debated selling my case but now I just want to drink a bottle every week. Subtle and almost merlot like with soft tannins. Excellent example of 20 year old cab. Just where it should be: a remarkable example

Feb 2nd, 2021Deep Ruby with pronounced aromas of dark berry fruits with spice and oaky notes. On the palate flavors of fresh blackberry and plum with licorice and toasty cacao. Tannins are a bit rustic, with the Rutherford Dust character, long finish ending with fruit and toasty spice. Give this a year, I tucked a few bottles in the cellar, and will report back in a year or so!

Dec 24th, 2020This one falls into the just ok category. I had hoped for a little more after 12 years in bottle.
If you like big, very dark Cabernets, then this one is for you.
While it had nice integration, well rounded and was smooth, its fruits are all very dark, blackberries, black raspberries, black plum & some dark cherries. Almost nothing in the way of mid red fruits. Heavy on; tarriness, very dark spice and the darkest of expressos. Baking spices; clove, nutmeg, some cinnamon and dull vanilla. Dry top soil & clay, stones, dry crushed rocks, touch of dry herbs with withering dark & red flowers. The acidity was round and nicely done. The long finish is elegant, smooth, somewhat balanced but, all primary in terms of darks tones.
This will age for another 10–15 years with proper storage.
Photos of; a very low sunset shot of the Estate, tasting bar & shop, the outdoor tasting patio & Estate vines.

Open 01/04/2020- impressed how much fruit was present. A little dust funk, but overall the wine held up week. My first job in Napa!

Jan 5th, 2020The 2016 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon is an excellent effort from this warm vintage in Napa Valley. On the nose the wine shows off lovely herbal undertones that combine with blackberry cobbler, mocha and anise aromatics. The palate is plush, delivering a soft and inviting mouthfeel. Wild blackberry, crushed mint, and dark chocolate covered espresso bean flavors all combine nicely in the mouth. While excellent now, this will evolve well over the next decade. Drink 2019-2029-90

May 1st, 2019The 2012 Provenance cabernet Rutherford is a very good wine with a nice nose, medium to full body and excellent taste. Very drinkable now. Much better than the 2011. Excellent buy if you can get it between 28 and 32 dollars. I score it about 90 - 91.

4 people found it helpfulFeb 17th, 2015Garnet red with some browning on the edges. On day one the nose was very muted with just a little chalk and cassis, but on day two the nose opened up a little more with some more dark berries and a slight undertone of acetone. Well integrated and solid tannins (6/10), moderate plus body and moderate finish. Solid body for a 14 year old bottle, and some aged dark fruits on the attack. Drink till 2019.
