Riserva Rio Sordo Barbaresco Nebbiolo

One for the ages. In a beautiful spot right now if you like your nebbiolo a little rugged. Subtlety and complexity evident, with layers of dried raspberry, raisin before pencil lead, anise, mulling spices and essential tar and roses. Chemical quality. Tannins and bracing acidity still holding this gorgeous profile together.

Sterner dryer tannins than the first Barbaresco. A big future from a good vintage. This is the Montestefano single vineyard. From magnum.

This site is always siky.

Earthen and stoic with underlying notes of sour cherries and gripping tannins. Probably just the age, but it exchanges a lot of the strong flavors of red berries and spearmint from the Rabaja for more oak and soil.

Nice rio sordo. Showing well w a long double decant. On the darker end of the Nebbiolo spectrum.

Wow! Amazing wine. Needed an hour of decanting to start up then explosion. Raspberries, cherry compote, anise, flowers and herbs. Amazing nose and palate. Very long tannins that had a wonderful herbal umami quality to them.

Fantastic nose- blackberry, bramble, anise, leather. The palate is so fresh for the age, and silky soft tannins at lingering finish. Disappointed to not have another bottle left.
