Lush and ripe. Beautiful. Drink young with a one hour decant, or could use 5 years laying down. Rich and decadent. I’m a fan of Pride and their jammy juice.

One of the best Merlots that I have had. Black fruit takes the stage with well rounded tannins. This is a tad one dimensional, but what more do you expect from merlot? Damn good merlot. Drink now!

Dark ruby. Aromas of plum, dark chocolate, menthol, and cedar. Dark fruit and soft tannins. 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and a dollop of Petit Verdot added to the Merlot then aged in 40% new French oak. 14.5% ABV. $62.

Started decanting at 4:52. Quite nice and balanced when just opened. Dark berries. Very initial taste had an edge on it that Was distinct but it disappeared within 5 mins. I am getting a sweet herbal taste on the finish.
At 8:31: smell is super floral. First taste is good fruits. Bright. Well balanced. I think I am getting a lot more expressive fruits now. Baking spices (or what I call baking spices) on the finish. A note of bell peppers.
Since I didn’t decant the 2012 and I am not drinking they side by side it’s not a fair comparison. However, my preference is the 2017.
As I keep sipping this at 9:05 I wonder if there is a little too much fruit.
This has been weird. I went from thinking this was a 9.1 to now maybe a 8.9 due to the overwhelming amount of fruit that isn’t well integrated after 5 hours. Will try again with another bottle.

Gorgeous, as expected. Lovely tertiary notes on the nose (especially with additional air) but surprisingly youthful on the palate. Cork looked as though it came from a 5yo wine.

And merlot is not something I gravitate to at all. This one was ok by me😄
