A lot of power in this one. Was far better the second day.

Just a few pics of the wines from last night’s monthly 4th Friday. Too many bottles to try!

Another example of a delicious 2011 vintage. I think this vintage is drinking really well right now in regards to integration. Dark in the glass, but lighter in aromatics and palate. Baked mixed berry pie, rhubarb tart, cedar and sweet vanilla tobacco on the nose and palate. Good structure and still showing some tannin. The finish had potpourri, cassis and even some graphite. Drinking really well but think this could hold in this window for another few years.

Very good and will get better. It’s still a relative powerhouse/baby, though the fruit, acid, tannins and roundness are in perfect balance. It needs time in bottle or a long decant. I have it neither. I’m excited to try another! After a few years wait.

Purplish ruby red. A bit tight but with significant aromas of dark spices, graphite and minerality. Heavy tannins (8/10) and full bodied. Rich mouthfeel of blackberries, bramble and sweet spices. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2032. (93+)

Big, bold and transparent to its terroir. It breath, smells, feels and tastes like Napa. And this is what I love about it. Winemaking is not too invasive and the barrel use is present yet not overwhelming. I may be wrong but I feel a Michel Rolland influence here which is ok. Love that there is a great balance between juice, fruit and tannins seriousness. A delicious wine indeed.
