Drinking lovely! This producer holds back their wines until they feel ready to release, this 1980 is a current release! Still showing fruit, leather and "crispness" as the Portuguese would say.

Stinky at first. Needed a few hours. Maybe even better the next morning. Having no frame of reference for 37 year old Dao I can't say how it stacks up but certainly a really interesting and different wine. Even if you like to try to use words to describe smells, this one is hard to pin down.

Eminently drinkable. Paired equally well with scallops and duck.

Candied aspects in the nose. Sweet plum, oily leather, cardamom, and a nice bright acidity. Decanted for about 5 hours. Still has cellar life, but drinking really well now.
