Poggio Vicino
Brunello di Montalcino
Umm this was at Trader Joe's. And it was... a surprisingly decent sangiovese? Even a worthwhile introduction to Brunello for someone who has never tried anything nicer than entry level Chianti? Well done, Joe. Well done. 🤾♂️

Mar 8th, 2021Excellent wine. Light and tart but plenty of body.

Jan 11th, 2022Tried it as part of Claire‘s blind taste test night. I thought it had a smell kind of like alcohol or gas; acid or tart: yes; body seemed medium-full; tannins seemed medium; finish seemed astringent/negative. First time I’ve had this type—will have to try again.

Dec 31st, 2021Saw this 16’ at Trader Joe’s at $19.99 and decided to give it a try because of the very good vintage.
A decent BdM that delivers pleasant notes of red cherry, strawberry, undergrowth, tobacco, and hint of balsamic. A bit metallic on the palate and lack of good tannins structure.

Leaning toward dry with cherries and other dark fruits. Developed well after opening
