Should have gotten a 2010 from this producer to compare with the other outstanding -10 Brunellos I've tried (Col d'Orcia, Silvio Nardi, Madonna Nera); but -11s was all I could get - apparently a difficult year in Montalcino. This Brunello is 35% cheaper because the producer rents a vineyard and also rents space in a winery, and therefore claims they can keep cost (and quality??) down. The color is typical with light brick tones; nose is primarily raisinated fruit, a young chianti-like "dusty tannin" smell, and a quite delightful minerality; in the mouth the acid level is high, the tannins prominent, and the alcohol seems higher than the indicated 13.5; the finish is sour cherries and an unbalanced mess. Sigh!
