Only the most respect for Beppe Colla and what he’s done in Piedmont, so was excited to try this Dolcetto. Certainly nothing wrong with it and perhaps a bit unfair to judge at this point versus in a couple years? Get some red cherries and purple flowers on the nose. But this is not seamless and the tannins sort of poke a bit.

Medium–light bodied and not tons of structure. Very mellow tannins and acids. Cocoa, mushroom, prune, ripe raspberry, a little baking spice. 2020 NY Times 20 under $20 (get it?). From Flatiron Wines.

Subtle cherry but *subtle* is the operative word. Not a whole lot going on on the nose or the palate.

Love this wine! Nice bright balanced red with earthy tannins. Pairs well with orange salad, branzino and pappardelle lamb ragu!
