Unbelievably youthful at open, this 21 year-old took an hour to open up, and it did with a tobacco and cherry laced nose, steeped in wood. Sweet cherry, leather and subtle notes of clove and vanilla. Lighter side of Barolo, not the most complex, but delightful.

Oct 12th, 2018Contrary to its name, this proved to be a subtle, elegant wine displaying many of the classic features of a Barolo 17 years old. It took some time to come out of its shell and it suffered a little in comparison to its younger, bolder drinking compatriots on the night but by the end, the leather, forest floor and the tiniest hint of vanilla were coming through. I wish I decanted earlier and taken more time, this could've been a very good bottle.
