Plumpjack
Reserve Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
Better now then a few years back. It’s got another 5 good years. Blackberry jam. Medium + acidity & refine tannins.

Jan 22nd, 2021We haven’t had the reserve for some time. Our last experience fell short, but normal service has been restored.
Notes of charcoal and tobacco on the nose. Palate gives way to fleshy, mature but ripe black fruits. Delicate spice notes combine with soft brown sugar on the mid palate. Finishes with poise and grace. Tannins are tucked in. Drink now or hold, but this won’t go to a better place.

Feb 14th, 2019I was really impressed with this. I think I expected something fruit bombed and out of balance. Couldn't have been more wrong, this was fantastic with great secondary development and complexity.

Oct 15th, 2017This boxed two-pack of '97 PlumpJack Cabernet Sauvignon 'Reserve' came with one Cork Closure and one Stelvin Closure to compare their aging development. Both bottles tasted side-by-side had the same opaque ruby color, similar aromas of earthy cassis, menthol and toasty oak and comparable brawny flavors of black raspberry and currant. The screw-cap bottle, however, seemed richer, sweeter and fruitier, but with more tannic grip, while the cork version seemed softer, more evolved and slightly more complex. A most interesting experiment!
