The end of an era. This is my last bottle of Pinnacle Ridge Veritas from the (now closed down) Kutztown, PA winery. Bordeaux Style blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Verdot. Dark ruby/purple highlights. Faint aromas of dark cherry and smoke. Pallet has red cherry, strawberry and raspberry fruit. Touch of vanilla and a bit of a green note. Extremely oaky finish that is a bit sharp and sour. Medium acidity and body. I probably opened this bottle a year or two late.

Pennsylvania Bordeaux Style Blend that I purchased over ten years ago and wanted to see how well it would age. Merlot heavy with some Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Aromas and flavors of cherry, blackberry and plums. Touches of vanilla and oak. High in acidity and the wine did remain rather fresh. Somewhat flat and the finish was a bit short. Reasonable.

Not as good as some prior vintages of this Pennsylvania Red. Similar aromas of dark cherry, tobacco and smoke. Pallet is full with notes of red plums and currants with lots of green pepper notes on the finish. Guessing there is a greater percentage of Cool Climate Cab Franc in this Bordeaux Style Blend. There is also a “sour” note to this wine. Give this one a decant to help mitigate.

Another solid vintage of this Lehigh Valley PA Bordeaux Blend. Dark cherry, smoke and tobacco on the nose. Plums, black currant, licorice with a hint of green pepper on the pallet. Give it a decant to blow off some bitterness. A little bit tight on the long finish, and a bit over Oaked.

I thought this was great. It had nice herbal flavors, some pepper, and good fruit. Would like to try again.

Really strong PA Bordeaux style red blend. Deep red fruit notes on both the nose and pallet. Licorice and herbal aromas as well along with mineral notes on the finish. Might be a bit past its peak, but still very drinkable.

Probably my favorite PA wine. Also no longer in production.
