Piña Cellars
Cahoots Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
I like Piña for two reasons:
Intense, meticulous vineyard management, and value wines.
The Cahoots is a blend of their single vineyards (hence the name) and is their entry level bottle. The 2013 vintage was a success, and one to most likely enjoy at a later date, mais c'est la vie. After an hour decant, at 64°temp there were loads of black plum, cedarwood, and gravel dust on the nose. The wine was very dark purple, with a purple hued rim, and long legs. The pallet was dominated by vibrant ripened blackberries, and with it peered undertones of vanilla, smoke, burnt coffee bean, and cracked black pepper. Escorted by these characteristics was a consistently fine, silky tannin. To finish, an idly lingering presence that kept me wanting more.

It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here's is a beautiful Napa Cabernet.
Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.
Fruity nose with sweet plums, cooked cherries, blackberries, wood, light vanilla, tobacco, peppercorn, espresso, chocolates, dried fruits and spices.
Full bodied, bold and smooth, with medium acidity and nice long legs.
Fruity on the palate with blackberries, black cherries, sweet spice, vanilla, licorice, cloves, herbs, oak, light earth, chocolates, coffee, mocha, tobacco and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cranberries.
This is a very enjoyable Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Well balanced and fruity with a great, soft mouthfeel. Complex and delicious.
Still young, but already enjoyable even by itself.
Good right out of the bottle and better after 2 hours.
Thank you Wendy for sharing.
I paired it with a Prime Rib dish.
14.2% alcohol by volume.
93 points.
$60.
