Wines from Oregon are not easy to access in Australia so it was great to be offered this one from Prince Wine Store in Melbourne. Mid crimson - transparent in parts. Spiced black and red cherries. A lolly, confectionery jujube like note. Pike Road is the sister winery to Elk Cove. Lovely drinking right now - not for the cellar. We used to buy Oregon Wines when our son was at the University of Oregon in 2007-2008, but we have pretty much run out. Great to revisit Oregon Pinot.

Dusty earthy cherries and herbal stemmy viney soft tannins. Has the sensation of crushed mulling spices in dark tea. Soft Xmas in April style Pinot. A great value Pinot! $22 at Uncorked Hermosa Beach.

Fruit forward and a really nice value for a Willamette PN priced under $20.

This pinot noir from Pike Road Wines, the sister winery of Elk Cove Vineyards, defies its $19 price tag by offering a fantastic example of Willamette Valley, Oregon pinot noir: brambly, dusty, earthy, and herbal. I'm absolutely pairing this with salmon. Cheers! (sample)

Cherry, raspberry, currant, oak, mossy earth and hints of dried sage. Good structure and well-integrated tannins.

One of the better in the under $20 Oregon Pinot category I've tasted of late, the 2014 Pike Road is an off shoot winery managed by the Elk Cove team. Replete with twiggy black tea notes, rose petals, cranberry compote, iron ore and dried blood, it's clean and linear on the palate, more red fruited than black, with bright acidity that dwindles to a slightly herbaceous, rustic finish of fresh bark dust, spice, and mulch.
