Blood oranges and whole cluster-like aromatics. Some funk. Tannins that you could call rustic. Overall, less austere than the last time I had it, with discernible red fruit that has a character that somehow reminds me of really good California Grenache. This is a whole lot of wine for the money.

This is in need of some time, but I love the way nerello can balance a certain richness with minerality, acid, and structure that isn't quite as formidable as, say, Nebbiolo. I really want to make this in California.
