Very similar comments to the 2018. This is in the top echelon of Aussie Chardonnay. Just beautiful! πππ½ππ½

May 19th, 2023Strong sulphidic notes of struck match. Lean in the palate for a Margaret River Chardonnay - citrus and grapefruit. Balanced and well made as always with a big future.

Mar 2nd, 2022A stunning Margaret River Chardonnay drinking at its peak - everything has come together. Aromas of buttered popcorn along with mealy notes. Just the right amount of dry extract. The fruit is a combination of Citrus and fleshy stone fruit with great persistence. Easily as good as most Premier Crus. Brilliant.

Jan 22nd, 2019Continuing on with these amazing Margaret River Chardonnays. Following the Leeuwin Art Series and then Cullen Kevin John we now have the brilliant Pierro Chardonnay of the same standard. Aromas of cashew nut and citrus - on the palate stone fruits. Like a hypothetical cross between the Chablis like Cullen and the lusher Art Series. An excellent wine and sadly my last one. Margaret River has fantastic Chardonnay and brilliant Cabernet and blends. Begs the question as to how Chardonnay would go in Bordeaux. I guess we will never know

Dec 24th, 2018Pale Lemon in colour. Leesy Struck Match Citrus Aromas. Citric notes on palate but also a creaminess with a little nectarine. A profound intensity which makes this Chardonnay stand out from the crowd. One of the most consistently good Chardonnays in Margaret River and Australia. Will keep for a few more years but hard to see it better than it is now.

Dec 10th, 2017Mid Lemon in colour. Amazing nose of ripe Grapefruit Cashews Gunsmoke And Flint. On palate M+ Intensity and Length. As good as Premier/Grand Cru Burgundy at a fraction of the price! In my top 5 Australian Chardonnays.

From Margaret River Chardonnay specialist, Pierro. Mid Lemon in colour. Mealy nutty aromas of almond and cashew. Restrained stone fruit with some ripe grapefruit on a medium bodied palate. Great balance between the new leaner style of Aussie Chard like Oakridge 864 and the traditional full bodied style like Leeuwin Art Series - both great Chards themselves. Excellent.

Oct 9th, 2016One of the more fruit forward Chardonnays from Margaret River - not as much as Leeuwin Estate. Impeccably made covering the stone fruit spectrum on nose and palate with finely judged French oak. Medium+ finish with short term cellaring potential. Very satisfying. Tasted again on 10th December 2016 with consistent notes. Great intensity on the palate. Touch of cinnamon on the nose.
