Pierre Brisset
Sous Roche Dumay Saint Aubin 1er Cru Chardonnay

LOVE when this shitty app eats an almost 500 word tasting note. I love it. Anyway. This nose is inane. Meyer lemon that is pure, clean and crystallized in a way that is just next level. It’s so focused and pointed. There is a lemon sweetness on this nose that is just super elite. The background is all minerals but this nose floats. There’s an almost Mosel Rieslingesque affectation here. Like Weiser-Kunstler. The wet earth, which this cuvée is known for needs some hours to come out but when it does, and it will, the nose will go from 9.7 to 9.9, just like 21 and 22. The powdered minerals really is channeling dry Mosel or even Nahe. That palate is just insane. Unreal orb like insanity and then detonates with the lemony intensity of a thousand mini perfect Meyer lemons all exploding at once. It’s so intense. Like stop you in your tracks. The lemon sweetness is just incredible. It’s so pure. Like Icelandic glacial water runoff pure. The opulence balanced by the electric acidity makes this conscious on your palate. Crazy inner mouth aromas. Elegance is top and the finish is long and winding. Wow the lemony intensity with flesh, pith and sweetness is just insane. This is genius wine. 9.7 for now but air will tell the story. The sap and extract on the finish is just insane. After 24 hours this was crazy. It got richer, but kept that acid line firm and had the most insane texture.

Simply awesome. Nose is a hint of sweet framing oak, so much wet earth, wazoo minerals and some green apple. So aromatic. Wow. Palate is so elegant yet tense with citrus, pear and green apple and terrific acid on the backend and minerals that slather on the extended finish. So juicy and with tremendous freshness. Nose now going saline. So finessed yet with such impressive material. Tons of dry extract and man that finish is unbelievable. Okay, Holy Shit the nose is insane now. Just mega elite aromas. Floral, wet earth, sweet wood, stanky minerals. 9.9 nose. It’s just so deep and penetrating. Just insane. Okay, last sip has elevated this wine into 9.9 territory nose and palate. Just so elegant as to break your mind. How can something be so perfect? Most elegant Brisset white I have ever had.

Energetic and deep. Racy and so pure. But this wine really took off with the 2020. And 21 and 22 are perfect.

The progress this wine has made since 19 is insane. 20 is a terrific effort and so elegant and precise. So much class. But 22 and 21 are near perfect.

Pierre has nailed this wine now. First was 19 and was very good but lacking the extra thing that makes Pierre special. Then 20 was better and now in 21 and 22 this cuvee is tops. What a leap. Mineral and ripe. Gorgeous, so complex and ripe, wow, ok, perfect, incredible.

Nose is dynamite. Meyer lemon. Discreet oak. Floral, wet stones, wet earth, peaches? Superb delineation on the nose between, earth, mineral, flowers and fruit. As it opens more lime pith, more slate? Almost Mosel like. Wow, acid, concentration off the charts. Really young, but so clean, so pure and so long. Also initially closed. What density and what amazing material. Really nice texture and again, this is so mineral driven it’s crazy. Such a wealth of material here.
As it airs some spice develops. This seems really backwards and needs time but also is so so fine. Could be Chassagne. Explosive mineral finish and so earthy. This is as old school as St. Aubin gets. Saline, rocky and earthy. But finish is clipped as a function of its youth but man is this promising.

On open nose is rich. Some oak. Peeking minerals. As this opens almost like this candied minerality.
Palate is rich but contained. Really delicious. Ok. Only took 5 minutes for the Wow to kick in. It has that Insane balance that makes you just want to scream. Texture is silky but present. Mineral infused rainwater.
Finish is just so elegant. Pulverized rocks. Lingering elegant richness.
Will be better in 2 years as the oak completely integrated. But great now.
Bought from fass selections.

The 2022 “Sous Roche Dumay” pours a straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with remarkable notes of bright tropical and ripe orchard fruit, a lovely mix of yellow and white flowers and laden with chalky minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Be still, my beating heart…the acid! Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and delivers a serious dose of the minerals, keeping up with the two Raveneau enjoyed alongside. Brilliant. This was arguably the best of the three paired with the pôchouse bourguignon but really, all three worked well. Drink now through 2052. Thanks for the assist @Lyle Fass

Sweet, complex confectionary quality, salty sweet fruit soak. Not the most aromatic definition, but great texture and overall very satisfying.
