Pierre Brisset
Sous Roche Dumay Saint Aubin 1er Cru Chardonnay
Energetic and deep. Racy and so pure. But this wine really took off with the 2020. And 21 and 22 are perfect.

Jul 23rd, 2024The progress this wine has made since 19 is insane. 20 is a terrific effort and so elegant and precise. So much class. But 22 and 21 are near perfect.

Aug 18th, 2023Pierre has nailed this wine now. First was 19 and was very good but lacking the extra thing that makes Pierre special. Then 20 was better and now in 21 and 22 this cuvee is tops. What a leap. Mineral and ripe. Gorgeous, so complex and ripe, wow, ok, perfect, incredible.

Nose is dynamite. Meyer lemon. Discreet oak. Floral, wet stones, wet earth, peaches? Superb delineation on the nose between, earth, mineral, flowers and fruit. As it opens more lime pith, more slate? Almost Mosel like. Wow, acid, concentration off the charts. Really young, but so clean, so pure and so long. Also initially closed. What density and what amazing material. Really nice texture and again, this is so mineral driven it’s crazy. Such a wealth of material here.
As it airs some spice develops. This seems really backwards and needs time but also is so so fine. Could be Chassagne. Explosive mineral finish and so earthy. This is as old school as St. Aubin gets. Saline, rocky and earthy. But finish is clipped as a function of its youth but man is this promising.

On open nose is rich. Some oak. Peeking minerals. As this opens almost like this candied minerality.
Palate is rich but contained. Really delicious. Ok. Only took 5 minutes for the Wow to kick in. It has that Insane balance that makes you just want to scream. Texture is silky but present. Mineral infused rainwater.
Finish is just so elegant. Pulverized rocks. Lingering elegant richness.
Will be better in 2 years as the oak completely integrated. But great now.
Bought from fass selections.

1 person found it helpfulNov 30th, 2022The second vintage and wow this is stunning. Leaps and bounds better than the 19 and the 19 was a great effort. Nose is buttery and confectionary with stunning mineral depth. Smells almost chevalier or batard like. Hoisted up by its own Batard. Dazzlingly pure and my goodness this is just so ultra refined. Really penetrates my nostrils like the aromas are almost solid objects. Unreal. Palate is deep, rich and bracing. Wow the acidity on this is brilliant with icing on a cake texture and just so refined, classy and long my goodness this is long. So pure and so sappy. Amazingly clean. Just an awesome bottle of St. Aubin. Nose develops wet stones, fresh sea air and lemon drop. The balance here is exceptional. Treacly and elegant. Serious and playful while also being incredibly long. The length here is not to believed. This is one of the finest St. Aubins I’ve ever had. I can’t imagine why this is not a 9.7, but want to see what air can do to this.
Wow the cotton candy confection is just off the charts. Stunning. So clean. So airy. This is what white burgundy is all about. Fruit is coming around. Superb citrus and Meyer lemon. Some lime as well. Rieslingesque.

This blows away my last bottle. So pure. So precise on the nose. A sick sense of richness and also insane minerality. Best aromas on any St. Aubin ever. Deep. This nose has woodsmoke. Confectionary. Super stones. Insane concentration and purity. So refined and classy. Super saline and has that mineral sweetness and intensity. Balance and class that is always there with Brisset. What intensity. Incredible mineral wash on the finish. So so clean. Just a brilliant bottle of wine. Maybe 9.6. 9.5 now.
