Blinded, I thought this was an Australian Chard from the early 2000’s. Certainly more developed than it should be, this was perhaps not the best data point for this wine. Quite dark with heavy lanolin and honey notes on the nose, along with oak spice, cream, mint, fennel, mild citrus, and a touch of mouldy funk. The palate was surprisingly ripe and concentrated, with steely acidity and a menthol-like finish. Not fresh per say, but definitely wasn’t unlikable and had energy.

Creamy round acidity with fresh ingredients from the garden & vinaigrette dressing.

Leftover from last weekend & no worse for the ware.

Straight up 1st Cru Meursault yet, it’s Bourgogne for $36.

Beautiful harmony on the palate.

A touch more oak than I’d like to see but it’s very well integrated. Great flavor depth and richness for Bourgogne blanc. Goes down fast.

Straight up one of the very best Bourgogne Blancs I’ve had for $37.99 and higher.

Again, drinks like a well made 1st Cru Meursault.

This caught on with a few of the right palates in NYC not long ago. It won’t stay at this price...grab what you can now. Especially, with 25% tariffs on newer vintages.

2015, 2016 & 2017 all very good.

Previous notes will work.

I’ll let my previous notes of weeks ago stand.

However, if you like white burgundy & can find some of their 2015-17, you owe it to yourself to order some of Pierre Boisson Bourgogne Blanc at $37.99.

Drinks like a well made Meursault and makes many elite Ca Chardonnays pale in comparison.

It has purity of fruit & minerality...not crushed in new oak and ABV burn.

You can spend $75 to $200 for elite Ca Chardonnay, I’ll take this over those any day.

One of the very best Bourgogne Blancs I’ve had. A steal at $39.99 when you price Burgundy.

Lemon, lime candy/zest, pineapple, stone fruit, caramel notes, beautiful white spice, excellent viscosity, cream, buttery quality, honeysuckle, vanillin, powdery chalkiness, sea fossils, great volcanics touch of fresh herbs, limestone minerals, yellow lilies, fruit blossoms and spring flowers. The acidity is magnificent. The round, lush, well balanced, elegant & polished finish is gentle and persistent for minutes.

I will take this wine and its style over than ANY CA Chardonnay I’ve had!

Pierre Boisson is really bringing it. The Bourgogne’s 15-17 all drink like a more expensive Meursault. Their wines will be rising in price. Buy all you can now.

Slightly over chill & decant for a better experience.

Happy Birthday America & Cheers! 🇺🇸 🧨

The third stage in the vertical tasting of this bottling. Out of order due to delivery...2017, 2015 & 2016.

The 2016 is reviewed best of the three vintages. I wouldn’t argue that at this point. It’s; rounder, more powdery minerals, volcanics & the chalkiness & sea fossils beautifully softer. I would only say the producer and their vintages are similar & consistent.

All of them drink like a nice, more expensive Meursault.

We tried the 2017 last weekend. It was really good. I said, it needed a couple years in bottle. After having the 2015 tonight, I would say it’s better but, like this 15 it still needs a couple more years to flush out to its best form.

I like this rising Burgundian producer & new to me. For $39, it overachieves & drinks better than many more expensive CA Chardonnays. As I mentioned in my 2017 post, this producer uses a shade more new wood than is typical for White Burgundy...it has a little backbone.

The nose reveals; sour lemons, green apple with skin, lime zest to candy, overripe pineapple, under ripe, green melon, white peach, peach, apricot, kiwi, guava, cream, brown butter, white spice, limestone, chalky grains in powder, caramel notes, butterscotch candy, dry herbs, honey/honeycomb quality, grey volcanics, fruit blooms, jasmine, yellow lilies & spring flowers.

The body is; full, round, waxy, slightly gluey with nice viscosity. This also drinks like a nice Meursault. Sour lemons, green apple with extra skin, lime zest to candy, overripe pineapple, under ripe, green melon, white peach, peach, apricot, kiwi, guava, cream, brown butter, white spice, limestone, chalky grains in powder, wet some, flintiness, slightly, metallic minerals, caramel notes, butterscotch candy, dry herbs, honey/honeycomb quality, grey volcanics, fruit blooms, jasmine, yellow lilies & spring flowers. The acidity round, phat and well executed. The finish is; well balanced, nicely knitted, lush, rich, polished and lingers on for minutes ending in grippy chalkiness & minerals.

Needs to be decanted & enjoyed around 60 degrees.

@Shay A Maybe, your next producer introduction? Have to work that out.

I’ve been reading & hearing about this rising Burgundy star for awhile. It was time.

The first thing I would say about this bottling is it is still very young. A few years will improve it greatly.

While young, it rides the French Burgundy & Sonoma Chardonnay fence with great balance between the two. The wood use isn’t big, just more than I like at this point for burgundy. I think that will soften in time. They use about 20% new for their Bourgogne Chardonnay & 30% for their higher end whites.

The nose is cream soda with a touch of ginger. Green apple, pineapple, lime candy, elegant minerality, soft chalkiness, sea spray, sweet butter, vanillin, sweet volcanics, yellow lilies, spring flowers with a touch of cut greens.

The body is round with good viscosity. Really beautiful. Drinks like a nice Meursault. Cream soda with a touch of ginger. Green apple, pineapple, lime candy, white peach, hints of grapefruit with a touch of sugar, honeysuckle notes, elegant minerality, soft chalkiness, sea spray, sweet butter, vanillin, herbal characteristic, sweet volcanics, yellow lilies, spring flowers, fruit blossoms with a touch of cut greens. The acidity shows the strength of the vintage. The finish is; perfect balance fruit & earth, elegant with excellent polish that persists several minutes.

Get it while you can. They produce several wines and only make a total production of 3,000-4,000 cases depending on what the growing season brings.

Photos of; long shot of their Domaine, father and son winemaking team of Bernard and Pierre Boisson, a near perfect cluster of Chardonnay grapes and the family (Pierre, Bernard & Anne) tasting in their cellar.
