2016 tasted Sept 2020. Mint and strawberries on the nose. First taste on the tongue is of slightly under ripe cherries. But despite the immediate astringency, there is a soft tannic structure to this wine. It’s precisely what this wine needs to carry it through the mid palate and then into a long finish. Lots of jangly high notes on the mid palate, but it has a soft ending that reminds me of Belgian milk chocolate. I normally set myself a limit of drinking only half a bottle max at a time. But I finished off this bottle. No doubt I’ll pay for it in the morning, but this is wine is irresistible. The 2015 was excellent. The 2016 is even better.

Got lucky with this one. The server was giving serious 🤷‍♂️ vibes when I asked for recommendations and I essentially picked this myself on region + price point (it was $30 more than 19 Crimes). Well-balanced, with a little bit of spice. The bottle suggests vanilla ice cream and strawberry coulis as a pairing. We had it (successfully!) with medium rare tenderloin, but I would 100% try this suggestion.
