Nose is tobacco, plum, cocoa, some of it obnoxiously ripe. Some stewed tomato. Meh. Palate is OK Tuscan Merlot. Juicy, sweet, non descript. Long. Hint of bitterness in all of these Petra wines I don’t like. OK.

Oct 4th, 2020Nose or smoke, wet earth, dried flowers, plum, faint raspberry, very pretty. This has nice high end aged Merlot character. Classic in style and very Tuscan. Palate is ripe, ample and rich but has a vein of freshness that runs throughout that gives it lovey cut. Good tannins and significant structure suggests this has some years left. Very juicy and long. Tuscan St. Emilion. Gets more silky with air. Tremendous fruit and volume on this. Cascades on the palate with the sweet ripe tannins.

Worlds colliding. Blue and black fruited Merlot with black olive, a little VA, and a lot of earth to keep it serious. Meravigliosa!
