Peter Michael Winery
Ma Danseuse Pinot Noir
Sonoma Coast, Sonoma County, California, USA

Savory nose. Bright red fruit lingers from attack through finish, changing shapes and perspectives along the way. Oak is subtle but darkness of tannin seem out of place.

Took over 2 hours to open up. Fruit heavy and kicking a bit of heat. Saline coastal quality sits in mid palate and pulls through tannin. Just a bit dark.

WNH event number 3...new world Pinot. Such a treat to experience the many different variations of Pinot!
This, alongside the ‘09 Rivers-Marie Summa OV and the ‘12 Marcassin, were all tied (in my opinion) for WOTN. This is a massive Pinot and benefitted from some air time. Cherry liqueur like enter which then turns darker to a black cherry baked pie, spice, and candied blackberries. There was a sweet, but not rich, note on the mid palate that reminds me of a mixed berry cobbler. Lengthy and flavor packed finish. Just beginning to enter a prime drinking window. Killer bottle from @Shawn R .

I opened this with some trepidation but it really over delivered after a two hour decant. Texture and concentration were gorgeous. The only detraction was the overt oak on the finish. But I really think this will integrate in another 5-10 years.
