1/3 of wines we put up against homemade pizza night. Great to try Spoletino (Trebbiano). Have heard positive mention of this Umbrian producer, especially on the red side of things, as this was my first foray into these wines. Textural, high-toned acid (think grapefruit), but not without a salty / savory kick on the nose. At one point I was certain I had my nose in “hot dog water”, with how savory this white was showing itself.

Forgot how much I love this wine. The nose leads with some exuberant character, slightly tropical fruit, ripe citrus, flower petals, hung meat and smoke. There’s a leesy element that suggests richness but on the palate the wine is zesty, dry, and fills your palate with its tart fruit and minerals driven impact. A fun, overlooked, delicious.

Boozy pineapple and a touch of grapefruit on the nose. Pomelo and starfruit on the palate. Lots of acid.

A 100% varietal Trebbiano Spoletino from one of Umbria’s top names. The wine conveys a breadth on the nose that deceives the wine’s nervy center. In fact it’s lip-smackingly tart - flavors of star fruit and Granny Smith apple meet oyster shell, salt block, white rose, lime pith, cracked pepper and vanilla blossom. Biting and concentrated.
