A somewhat attractive damp cellar nose when first opened, giving way to brooding dark fruit. So smooth at this age, and plenty of life left. Oak and fruit in balance with good structure and, sure enough, a nice touch of pepper. It was great with a t-bone. A consistently great performer with several years' bottle age - be patient!
