From Magnum. Dark and Dense Crimson. A powerful full bodied wine on nose and palate with Blackberry and Mocha Oak in the Penfolds style. Not particularly Cabernet in style but a big ripe oaky Wine which will outlive us all. The WOTN for many of the 40 people at the Dinner.

Wine for the long haul. Tannins are somewhat resolved. Powerful, pungent, oaky (American), undeniably Cab Savvy. An aftertaste that just doesn't want to go away. I wouldn't spend my money on this, but I certainly can see the quality here.

Truly a remarkable wine, my first experience with Penfolds and certainly won't be my last. Classic scents of cherry, blackberry, even a little bit of cigar or dried meat. Intense and complex on the palate, but very enjoyable. Crisp red fruit flavors eventually give way to a deep, almost over-ripe, dried cherry finish. Amazing pair with red meat.
