Penfolds
Bin 2 South Australia Shiraz Mourvedre

Cheap, valuable, nice aroma of - black plum, pepper, sage - very fruity. Sweet with mellow finish

Very nice, forest fruits on the nose, full bodied, dry, but fruity, some tannins, quite sophisticated.

Sep 3rd, 2016Not a monster by any means, and certainly not as much spice as I was expecting. The fruit load is the attraction here. Blackberries and moist soil is what I taste here. Or maybe that chocolate crumbly stuff that comes between layers of Dairy Queen ice cream cakes. Not bad, not amazing. Drinkable.

And now onto a whole other part of the world. Although the region of Rhône is noted for having beautiful syrah, the grape varietal is actually best suited for cooler climates so southern Australia has become a huge grower. This Penfolds is young but after a slight decant it really shines. Black cherry and jam on the nose with some mild tannins and spicy oak on the finish. This will be added to bobby's cellar for sure.
