Bright cherry with a ruby rim. Soft, pretty floral notes along with cinnamon, Spanish spices, and good old barnyard funk on the nose. 100% Mencía, but if tasted blind I probably would have guessed a spicier Beaujolais. Similar in structure and tangy acidity. All kinds of fruit on the palate with wild strawberries, very tart cherries, and boysenberry. The more savory aspects come with time when you get the slightly burnt coffee, black pepper, damp moss, and a touch of oak. Just a purely fun little Spanish treat.

Very good value at <$15. Bright red fruits with hints of creamy blueberry too plus a distinct violet note. It had tannins and body similar to Beaujolais but a bit more weight and a different (sweeter) fruit profile. Two of us finished the bottle in one sipping (not the norm), and it went quick! A good sign. Not complex but highly drinkable. An Eric Solomon import.
