Very similar to the Alder Springs Cuvée from Mendocino but with a slightly harder edge. A lovely fragrance like the Alder Springs with Black cherries and Bacon. Some Barnyard but no Brett. Again, the cork broke in half raising issues of storage. Still an enjoyable wine.

I was a fan early on and still love the ballsiness in these older Pax wines.
Put this up against any Hermitage from a ripe vintage and.....??

Big, super rich style from a different chapter. Still delish - flamboyant and showy with cassis, charcoal, stewed meat, and roasted marrow bone. Glad I got to try, but think I'll go home and have a bottle of Wind Gap!

Belle syrah riche qui s'assume, sans tomber dans la caricature. Le temps a permis de dompter la bête. Beaucoup de plaisir avec cette bouteille. Parfait avec le gigot d'agneau.

An investment in cellar time really paid off, perfect texture, despite the alcohol showed balanced, deep dark fruit, restrained wood, long and satisfying perfect with the grilled curry wurst.
