A wine with tremendous agility, response and acuity when provoked by a broad spectrum of flavors.

One off the most original california wines of 2014 that celebrates, youth and playfulness with a carefree abandon. Tremendously versatile with food.

A varietal native to Southwest France but known locally as Napa Gamay. I'm pairing this on the tasting menu: crepinette of bass with red bell pepper/fermented red pepper sauce. The wine addresses the sauce while still honoring the delicate flavor and texture of the fish.

This Valdiguié (called Gros Auxerrois in Languedoc-Roussillon) from Sonoma comes across as a fruity Gamay or even a light-weight New World Cabernet Franc. Strawberries, lilac and menthol emanate from a light ruby red. Generous body with some rough tannins and acidity keep the finish interesting.

I am loving this grape. Cherries, funk, river rock, some pepper. Fantastic easy food wine.
