Paul Draper's Ridge
Monte Bello Cabernet Sauvignon Blend
Some caramel notes. Good rich midpalate. The butterscotch is a bit much for an otherwise lovely wine.

Sep 7th, 2019Dark purple. Murky and opaque. Seductive nose with notes of ripe plum, dark berries, lots of mocha and and some cassis. Maybe a little eucalyptus. Perfectly balanced in the mouth. Seems young. Long finish. Still on an upward trajectory and has a long way to go in its life. Yet it's a very memorable wine tonight.

May 9th, 2018For a 25 year old wine it had plenty of concentrated red fruit that lasted for over a minute. It also showcased earthiness, minerals, spices, with hints of leather and tobacco. Even though the grapes hung until October, it's not that typical super ripe California style. In fact, at only 13.1% alcohol it could easily fool people into thinking it was a stunning Bordeaux. We had it with frog's legs, escargot and roasted duck... This was an amazing wine that we enjoyed for hours.

Jun 12th, 2016Enjoyed at Nepenthe after a week of tasting in the Sierras, Napa, and Sonoma. A very appropriate punctuation mark; still the benchmark disparate corners of the wine world seemingly can agree on. It's classic, timeless California in a bottle.
