Last stop on day one in Sonoma was at Patz & Hall Winery. Second red wine is their Pinot Noir from the Sun Chase Vineyard in the Petaluma Gap region of the Sonoma Coast.

Medium ruby red with garnet edges. Powerful nose with wild dark berries, lilacs, violets, provenance herbs, fig, strawberries and sweet spices. Medium acidity and tannins (6.5/10) with a medium plus to full body. Lush palate with notes of vanilla, dark berries and violets. Long finish. Drink till 2028. $$$

Had a different wine in mind yet pulled this one. Just a baby but o' so good! Black jam in the glass. Nose of cold smoked meat, minerals and spice. Light, yet full bodied mouthfeel leads to a sip that has bright red fruits, minerals and spice. That same spice, Chinese Five Spice rolls on the palate with smoke for a long finish that goes on...

Beautiful burgundy hues in the glass. Cloves, cinnamon, slight game on the nose. Starts slow and fresh opening up to wild berries, roses and slight cranberry. Rounds out with a spicy, long persistence finish. Wine club members exclusive, 19 barrels produced. @Donald Patz @Patz & Hall

Really liked the slight tobacco whiffs, that were dancing amongst the spices and fruit profile.

A stunning, lifted example of sonoma Pinot. Strong cola and exquisite, ripe fruit.

How does James Hall do it?! Deep ruby robe, medium-light body, slight spice on the nose, muted, elegant@red fruit mouth, supple finish.
