From magnum. This was the first vintage of Patz & Hall “Alder Springs Vineyard” Chardonnay. At the point of blending a flicker of original youthfulness with otherwise fully matured Chardonnay flavors. This is why we drink older wines. Rich, complex spice and toast, notes of tangerine, beeswax, dried apple, caramel, wildflower, sea breeze, exotic perfume, kiwi, crushed rock. A moderate yellow color. I was there when the grapes were picked. Short of help, we all pitched in to harvest. A miracle.

Delicious and luscious. Well integrated oak and a full bodied creamy palate but not overpowering and elegant instead. Great acidity still for the style. Excellent, long finish.

Stellar. A good mixture of tropical fruit and creme brûlée with some good acidity & poise. Real good.

Clear medium golden yellow with a greenish hue. A touch of oak on the nose with blossoms, pineapple, strong, zesty and ripe lemon. Fresher than the Sonoma Coast. Medium plus to high acidity (7/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Layered with melon, vanilla, and rich citrus zest. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2022. (92+)

Big fan of the entire Patz & Hall portfolio this Chardonnay is a good example why...starts with toasted hazelnut and wasabi on the nose. Well integrated acidity and oak. Soft, supple mouthfeel flashing flavors of honeysuckle, pear and ginger. Finish with lime, touch of oak and vanilla bean.
