Avoyelles California Red Blend
The 2021 Avoyelles is a bruiser, its mid-weight structure notwithstanding. Strong, savory and floral notes open first. There's plenty of weight and intensity, but it appears gradually. All the elements are so well balanced in this young, potent Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc blend. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, December 2023)

"The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Avoyelles, Biagi's Cabernet Franc-based wine, is stellar. A towering, voluptuous wine, the 2015 is utterly captivating. Blueberry jam, mint, spice, lavender and crème de cassis give the 2015 much of its rich, super-concentrated feel, while soaring Franc overtones add nuance. The 2015 is even better from bottle than it was from barrel. There is so much to like. Sadly, there are just two barrels to go around." (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, March 2018)

Apr 12th, 2018@Paul Treadway @Ryan Callahan @Christine Wow!!!! What a freaking Rockstar this was!!! WOTN and I'm not just saying that because my buddy Paul gifted me this 1.5L Beaty!! He's permanently on Santa's list!! It's a wine that I've never had which is always fun to uncork since you truly don't know what to expect!!
This had many of the same characteristics as the Carter but it was so perfectly balanced in comparison. Huge lush dark blue fruit, dark red fruit & all without being "overly" sweet. The lingering sweetness of the Carter really took away from the overall tasting. This was firing on all cylinders. Ryan & I immediately said "WOTN". No questions asked. It was rich, elegant and layered with a minute + finish.
This bottle impressed the hell out of all of us.
I'm a fan! I'll definitely be researching to secure some for my cellar. Paul actually gave me a 750ml of this as well!! I'll be saving that bad boy for another special occasion π
Badass in a glass as I always say!!! ππππππ. Thanks Paul!!! I

I have become a big Patria fan. The Avoyelles is a cab franc dominant blend, along with 35% CS and 9% petit verdot. It just smells and tastes soooo very good. Manages to impress on every front: beautiful floral aromatics, minerality, fine-grained tannins and a long finish. Extremely balanced and highly recommended.οΏΌ
