May 22nd, 2023Bottle two in less than a week as I had to see if it was as good as next bottle. And yes it is. Soaring nose of black tea, roses, dried and fresh with zany amounts of mid to late season cherries. Saw dust, old books. Nose not as expressive out of the gates as the previous bottle but man the palate is. I have faith in the nose. Even as I type this nose is getting more expressive. Wow. Stunning depth and layered aromas. Palate is just god juice. So juicy. So clean. Velvety and substantial tannins and such depth. Gets to the little punching bag at back of throat and then soaks it with fruit. Nose is getting KRAZOR now. Elite. Elite. Wow what tannins, elite fruit, concentrated, sappy and palate staining. So pure. This is a 9.6. 2nd bottle.

Dec 24th, 2020What a nose. Sick sick wine. The best value Monvigliero I’ve ever had. Haunting old school and very very aromatic nose. Tar, dried roses, leather horse saddle, a fragrance that one needs a nose as big as mine to smell or you need at least 3 noses. The aromas are to die for. Classic and just insane. Some light cherry but this is all black tea, leather and dried roses. Also old wood shavings. Sick. Sick. Sick. Wow, brilliant palate. So so so juicy and so so elegant. Amazing sap and purity. So so elegant. God damn this is good. So balanced. The fruit is so luscious and stacked and the energy and linearity of this wine is second to none. There’s a serious mineral spine to the nose as well. Smells like pulverized earth and rocks. Just a hedonistic and brilliant bottle of Barolo. Breathtaking in every sense of the word!

This is a beautiful Barolo - will try the next one in a couple years, but with a few hour decant this is very nice now. Great fruit, earth, minerality, and acid balance. Aromas are lovely - slightly floral in a dark way. Really nice. Wonderful pairing with morel mushroom risotto, which felt appropriate for a snowy Saturday in nyc.

N: Big tarry, Rosy, mentholated, Amarena cherries, Good dirt, mint, savory herb, coal tar, keeps changing.
P: Boot leather, Chocolate, cherries, tomato, carob, wonderful balance of acidity and tannin, One could drink this all night.
