Waters Ranch Petit Verdot
Inky and dark purple in the glass. Menthol, saddle and black tea on the nose. Pencil lead, vanilla and bright purple fruits with nice structure and a long finish. Outstanding.

Nov 2nd, 2019Damn what a 👃! Wet mushrooms, pepper, mint, bark, burnt chocolate, and inky tart black fruit. Easily the best Petit Verdot I’ve ever had.

Dec 18th, 2017Complex. The blue fruit has complexities of pepper turned earth and violets. Even with all that there's a sweet(ish) quality that never comes forward but haunts the finish from first sip to last. Tantalizing, in the classic sense.

Nov 10th, 2016I am a "Reds!" Pahlmeyer wine club member and these bottles are the reason why. If someone asked me about Petit Verdot, I would say its a blending variety. I like it in their Proprietary Red and wines like J. Phelps Insignia. But a single vineyard variety release? I have no idea what to expect. What a bottle! The jammy forward fruit is massive like a Shiraz, but you don't need a steak to drink it. Sweet, but elegant. It has a refined balanced finish that leaves you asking for another sip. Cheers!
