Dark ruby in color with a very short reddish rim. Not showing age at all.
Strong fruity nose with cedar, vanilla, chocolates and black fruits.
Full bodied, elegant and smooth, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate and very fruity, with black currants, plums, tobacco, cedar, leather, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, herbs and light alcohol.
Medium plus on the finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.
This 28 year old is still drinking beautifully, but was probably better a few years ago.
Nicely balanced and elegant with nice complexity.
Needed 90 minutes of airtime to open up properly.

A blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot, 4% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot. Aged in French oak barrels for 22 months.
14.1% alcohol by volume.

On the palate flavors of blackberry, currants and smoky oak with earthy floral and black pepper notes. Fine soft tannins, long finish ending with fruit, toasty oak and floral mineral character. Will still age a bit but nice now! Tasting Sample!

Great nose of black currants, plums, cooked cherries, blackberries, cedar, licorice, chocolates, light vanilla, tobacco, coffee and peppercorn.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and smooth.
Dry on the palate with black currants, chocolates, cherries, cedar, vanilla, spices, espresso, cola, light herbs, earth, tobacco and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a delicious Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley.
Showing great complexity, tasty and interesting. A good wine to share with friends and talk about.
Delicious right now and has more in it to last at least 5 more years.

I had it blind and called a 2005 Napa Cabernet based Bordeaux blend. This 27 year old feels so much younger.
This is from a great vintage in Napa and it is showing so. Lasted over 3 hours. Fabulous and delicious.

Monthly WTF group recap. Theme this month was “bring something special”. Normally we taste all of the wines blind, but we decided to do a relaxed night with amazing wines at a great restaurant. Spectacular evening!
I consistently find these wines to be very soft and plush. A very approachable mix of dark fruits with sweet spice and oak on the nose. Velvet like on the palate with red, blue and black fruits alongside baked fig. The finish has nutmeg, sweet cocoa and baking spices. Thanks @Ryan G .

To me the ‘02 North Coast vintage was one of the best early drinkers I can recall. Just amazing vibrancy from the top producers. At age 17 this was very nice but lacked pop and fell off obviously on the mid palate. Drink now. Pop and pour.

Big, tobacco leaf nose leads a full and layered smooth cocoa palate. This needs time but will go from great to outstanding.
