Fourth of our seven year vertical tonight....Scratch that the 2014 came out too.

Medium to deep ruby red. Notes of strawberries, bramble berries, anise and tobacco on the nose. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and medium plus body. Nice amount of cocoa, anise, black currants and woody. Drink till 2020.

Nose is very shy. Cassis and blueberries meld onto a mineral-driven palate. Lacking the richness, density and sweetness we have come to expect. A good expression of the varietal from a relatively poor vintage.

2009 needed well over 3hrs to fully open up. But once open, delicious!

Loved this wine. Absolutely no green on the finish. A mix of dirt and cocoa that made for perfect sipping next to the fire pit.

If I were Sir Mixalot and this wine were a butt, it'd be a badonkadonkdonk.
