Not commonly know outside of the Ovid circle, their Experimental series are spectacular. Having recently been blown away by the 2008 Experiment J5.8, I was very eager to stop by the architecturally amazing Ovid Winery on top of Pritchard Hill (with the view to die for). The trip was worth it! The Experiment R8.3 was beautiful right out of the bottle, with indications of epic if you can wait several years. 66.71% Cabernet Sauvignon (have to be exact with an Experiment), 28.86% Cabernet Franc and 4.43 Petit Verdot. Flavors of dark cherries and cocoa roll across the palette. As always at Ovid, buy early, and buy often....it goes fast.

Oct 31st, 2020Ovid makes great wine and I haven’t had their experiment series in awhile. The 2013 is awesome with red fruit, well balanced , full bodied cab joy ride.
