Olga Raffault
Les Picasses Chinon Cabernet Franc
Chinon, Touraine, Loire Valley, France
As usual this Olga Raffault Chinon does not disappoint. It has just a bit of charming brett-y funk, and really pretty sour red fruit and tomato character that is just barely on the correct side of the ripe vs unripe fulcrum.

Meaty, savory, and just the right amount of dried fruit

Savory, complex classic Chinon. Great with all kinds of food. Ian Cauble special!

Extra points for value. Not sure I know of a better wine with age for less money. $60 on the list at Bouchon. Glorious with duck confit and lardons.

Still very young and actually better after 1-2 days open. Earth, dirt, green pepper, rocks, pomegranate. Nice acid/tannin balance. Intriguing and delicious.
