45% Gaglioppo, 45% Aglianico, 10% of indigenous grapes. Ruby red color, red cherry, candies cherry, red berries, blackberry, a bit dusty with a touch of smokiness and savoriness, med plus tannin, med body, med plus acidity. Great value wine from Calabria.

Oh long time no see! What a yummy wine ripe black cherry soft tannins and a kiss of cranberry lifted by a great acidity, an amazing value, Calabria nostrana!

i have had a love affair with this wine for going on 10 years now thanks to a recommendation from a wine store on court street in cobble hill. its a $15 wine i keep coming back to. the unusual grape blend is immediately apparent when you taste this one (45% gaglioppo, 15% greco nero, 15% nerollo capucchio, 15% magliocco canino and 10% sangiovese) so its just a completely unique flavor profile for me. lots of black olive on the nose and black olive, tar, and prunes on the palate. goes great with garlic-y italian food.

This was such a fruity and spicy surprise. Flavors were such an interesting blend from the various grape varieties. Enhanced my sushi dinner and spiciness.

Dark fruit + leather + softish tannins + inexpensive. Nice body too.
