Odette
Reserve Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon
A friend had a “reduction party” as he was needing to thin out his cellar. Definitely a party I’m happy to attend!
Voluptuous profile. Purple oil in the glass. Viscous. Smells like a blue and blackberry pie was just pulled out of the oven! Baking spices like vanilla and nutmeg. Dark chocolate coated blueberries, plum, black licorice, espresso...lifted aromatics. While rich on the palate, it’s more nimble than I expected. Graphite. Pretty smooth at this point, showing added notes of smoked meat, dark baked fruits, and a lengthy finish. This is in the zone right now for those of you who enjoy big, rich, complex, unabashed Napa cab.

With how incredible this was tasting at pop and pour, I was disappointed to have to leave shortly after it was opened, so I didn’t get to see this unfurl and blossom after it was given some air. Quintessential Stags Leap District. Incredibly dark in the glass, almost black. Smells of mocha, currant, blackberries, licorice, and heady notes of baking spices. Velvet like on the palate adding some typical black cherry, alongside graphite, toasted graham cracker and dark chocolate. Powerful tannins. Hope to try another one of these.

Oct 14th, 2018Decided to open this beauty for my 27th Anniversary. 100 pts from RP. It's an inky purple color and the nose is amazing. This is a full-bodied wine with intense flavors of cassis and blackberry. It's 80% Cabernet and 20% Merlot. Love it!
