N: black currant, blackberry, clove & pepper dominate. P: leather, cigar box, black fruits. F: moderate+ but shows the youth of the wine, would mellow with time.

On the nose, green pepper, vanilla, toasted oak, raspberries. Medium bodied, good acidity, some minerality, and a pleasing mouthfeel. Took a bit to open up but balanced and integrated. Wears its 14.5% abv very well.

Dark cherries in the nose, and it continues with that and a bit of raspberry in the body, which could be slightly fuller for me. $26.99 from Safeway in Pleasanton.

A bit harsh at first opening. Aerated into decanter and a few hours later... Fig, honey/vanilla, butter..bright acidity.
