Murky and earthy filled with potpourri and fruit leather prune-y goodness balanced with sour cherry tang and present but obsequious tannins. It warms, it pulls you in, and just at the end gives a lively lift of salinity and amaro—is that a note of Montenegro I’m getting? As Los Angeles (kinda) tilts at autumn, I want to WEAR this wine by the fireside.

This worked as if in Spain at a long lunch with steaks and the fixings. Priced for scarcity :( and cult like sexiness.

Some recent Friday bottles...

Having tried the No Girls Syrah and Grenache, I was excited to give this a whirl when
@Keith Fisher brought it down to open. It needed about an hour to open up and express the typical Rocks funk that I expected. Yet, the funk wasn’t overwhelming...roasted meats, soy, and green olive aromatically but gave way to baked black cherries, rhubarb, currant and spicy peppercorns. Nice weight here. Loved it.

A real head turner. This tastes all at once like its aged and complex but young and fresh. Evolves with air and the dark fruits continue to come forward over leather and tobacco notes. This is still very young so it will be interesting to see how it evolves in bottle, but it’s so good now.

Very unique nose of licorice and charcoal briquette. Oily palate with very fine tannin

I hour decant! First time trying The No Girls 2019 Tempranillo. Color is a dark Ruby red. Nose- raspberry-cherry and roasted meat with a slight funk are the initial notes followed by dark soil, bitter chocolate and a touch of leather and pepper spices. Taste - juicy and chalky but well integrated flavors of red fruit, tart cherry and smoky cedar. Well structured and balance and could age another 10 years. Christophe Baron and his winemaker Elizabeth does it again!

1hour decant(some cloudy sediment). A brooding medium dark ruby red with purple hues. On the nose: raspberry/cherry, roasted meat, slight "rocks" funk(luv it), clove, touch of new leather, floral. Taste: creamy, chalky, juicy wine with tart cherry/strawberry, smokey, earth, cedar and a nice medium plus finish. YUM! Another winner from Christophe Baron winery
