2013. Opened my first bottle. Wow it’s really good right now. Great nose, strong acidic backbone tells me many years left. Tannins have eased but still have a touchy grip, for a great mouthfeel. Black, red and then blue fruit. Just really enjoyable. Love this vineyard and Melka’s work at Nine Suns. One of my favorites!

2014 Houyi. Finally opened my first bottle. What a treat. Blackberries and blackcurrants with hints of chocolate, graphite and spices. Full body, firm and silky tannins with a long and flavorful finish. Juicy and muscular wine, yet with a silky and wonderful mouthfeel. Absolutely loved it. Hit its stride about an hour after opening.

2016 Houthi, very tight at opening. 20 min start to see the potential. An hour in, wow! Wine is very very dark. Fruit is muted on nose but oak is prominent with some floral. Black fruit comes out in the glass with time. Lovely wine, wonderful mouthfeel. Built to last many years. Drinks well now, but needs 5-10 more years to really shine. With a long decant you’ll be rewarded now with a divine wine.
