On the palate; lavender, vanilla, light caramel, dark cherries, dark chocolate, olallieberries, blueberries, black raspberries & black plum. The body is leaner than previous Dragonfly vintages I've had. Tannins are M-M+ that are firm and dark. Dark soils & minerals, salted caramel, vanilla, black licorice, leather & wood shavings. Finishes with dry dusty tannins with ripe fruits that rise over the top of the dry tannins. Barrel tasted the 2016 vintage at the Nickel & Nickel Entrecôte. Photos of the decanted wines to enjoy during lunch and the old Nickel & Nickel carriage.

Second Coravin of this bottle since last May. Spiced dark fruit, black licorice, Asian spice and lavender & dry florals on the nose. The 12's do drink nicely young and will certainly cellar but not nearly as long as the 13's. The 13's are going to cellar 20-40 years for many of the high quality producers. The palate is black cassis; blackberries, black plum, black cherries, black raspberries, spiced plum, decayed florals & lavender, black licorice anise, tarry notes, black tea, baking spices; clove, nutmeg, clove, vanilla, nut skin, chunky dark volcanic minerals, crushed rocks, cigar leaf and ash, used leather, nice acidity, strong structure & length, good balance of fruit & earth and rich, big body, long, elegant fruit finish with spice. Looking forward to barrel tasting their 16 single vineyard Cabernetsin May. Have a great President's Day weekend!

Nearing the end of its life, certainly, but man it was good juice! Jammy and juicy, silky tannins, very little acidity left, drinks very easily and quite yummy. Held together nicely for 16 years. Brief finish, great mouthfeel.
