On another level. Nickle and Nickle single vineyard Cabs are just special. So polished and true to the Stags Leap AVA. Prime floor fruit.

The nose reveals; loads of ripe; mulberries, boysenberries, olallieberries, blackberries, dark cherries, very floral blue fruits and black raspberries. Big baking spices; clove, cinnamon, vanilla. Burnt ambers, raspberry cola, dry crushed rocks, dark spice, volcanic minerals, dark, rich, black soil, mint, herbaceous, limestone and blue & purple flowers and lavender.

The body is round and full. Tannins nicely softened and dark. This is not the State Ranch but the 11 Copper Streak. Upon opening, very strong perfume and purple flowers on the nose. Poor flowering and mild temps did not help with the grapes that went into make this wine. However, for the vintage, it's light smooth dark fruits, grilled meats, dark chocolate, light baking spices and black tea finish. A touch CA Syrah like at this stage. Not all that complex or rich in fruit but none the less a pretty wine. This is a wine that will likely not cellar for much more than 7-10 years max.

On the nose; ripe, perfumed fruits of; blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, plum, black raspberries, herb, savory meat, tarry notes and decayed dark florals. Medium dusty tannins, black spiced currants, herbs, black cherries, blackberries, poached strawberries, pomegranate, black raspberries, mid intensity volcanic minerals, dry stones, leather, underbrush, liquid violets, black cherry cola, dark dry & fresh florals. Medium body finish with fresh, ripe fruits with tannins that soften with nice structure, length and acidity. Barrel tasted the 2016 vintage at the Nickel & Nickel Entrecôte. Photos of the "Copper Streak Vineyard.", the gravelly loam from the Perkins soil series and the gate that leads to their estate building. Cooper Streak is a part of the "Stag's Leap District."

Bit more rustic than I would have thought. It is showings more age than I would have guessed. Qualitatively a solid wine. Restrained fruit with forest floor showing up. It seems confused now and perhaps it needs a bit more time.

Wow, this is a gem of N&N offerings. Loads of ripe cassis, blackberries, currants, plum. Slightly earthy. Tannins soft and luscious. Great mouthfeel. In its prime window now. Fantastic!
