This was a gift from friends, and after leaving it in the cellar I decided to pull it out to have with leftover stuffed peppers tonight. It’s a very soft and friendly wine. Nose has soft, ripe, sultry berry fruit, baking spice, and a warm sandstone minerality. Soft, ripe, and full in the mouth, it’s got welcoming fruit upfront. Very flowing and loose-boned, the finish is fruity though not particular long. This style will appeal to a broad range of people.

The 2019 Nero Oro Riserva is a captivating wine with a bold, fruit-forward character and a unique depth of flavor. Upon opening, it greets you with vibrant aromas of ripe blackberries, dark cherries, and plums, intertwined with subtle hints of black pepper and licorice. The first sip delivers an explosion of rich, dark fruit flavors that are beautifully balanced by a soft, velvety texture.

What makes this Nero Oro Riserva stand out is its complexity and seamless integration of flavors. Along with the abundant fruit, there are delightful layers of dark chocolate, toasted oak, and a faint whisper of tobacco, adding an unexpected richness. Its well-structured tannins give the wine a refined grip, while the lively acidity keeps it fresh and vibrant, never letting it feel too heavy or overbearing.

Mid-palate, you'll encounter subtle notes of fig and a touch of balsamic, giving the wine a uniquely savory edge. The finish is long and smooth, with lingering flavors of spice and a touch of smoky vanilla.

This wine pairs beautifully with hearty dishes such as braised beef, lamb stew, or a rich mushroom risotto, but it’s just as enjoyable on its own. The 2019 Nero Oro Riserva is a distinctive, fruit-driven wine that delivers both power and elegance, offering a truly memorable tasting experience.

Nice red, heavy enough to go well with spice but not over powering

Nice simple American palatized Italian wine. Plenty of fruit and a good full bodied leathery base. Not too fussy and delicious. Excellent value, drink some if you can.
